Ingagi
ingagi - kinolorber.jpg

Beschreibung:
The exploitation cinema had its share of scandalous films, but none is so mired in controversy as the bizarre pseudo-documentary Ingagi. Purporting to be an ethnographic journey into the wilds of Africa, it combines authentic footage purloined from other films, with outrageous scenes staged for the camera in Los Angeles. Among the hoaxes perpetrated are the discovery of the “tortadillo,” a heretofore unknown species of animal, and the exposure of an indigenous cult that worships (and sacrifices its women to) gorillas—a particularly racist concept that would resurface in films for years, most notably as the dramatic springboard for King Kong. After spawning a whole sub-genre of exotic shockumentaries (e.g. Forbidden Adventure, Karamoja), the originator faded into obscurity, mired in lawsuits and cursed by the notoriety of its title (the Kinyarwanda word for “gorilla”). Ingagi has not been commercially distributed for at least 50 years, and this 4K restoration, from materials preserved by the Library of Congress, marks the film’s home video premiere.

Kino Lorber hat für April 2021 die Blu-ray angekündigt:
LASH OF THE PENITENTES.jpg

The Lash of the Penitentes aka The Penitente Murder Case (USA, 1936, Regie: Roland Price, Harry Revier, anderswo wird Zelma Carroll genannt)
Label: Kino Classics in Zusammenarbeit mit Something Weird Video
Reihe: Forbidden Fruit: The Golden Age of the Exploitation Picture, Vol. 9
Format: BD
Regionalcode: kA
Laufzeit: ca. 48 Min. + Bonusmaterial
Bild: s/w, Bildformat: 1,33:1
Angekündigt für: 06.04.2021
EAN/UPC: 738329253608

Beschreibung laut IMDB:
Actual footage of Penitentes - a sect of Catholic religious fanatics who engage in self-flagellation - is combined with new footage about a murder.
Das „Hays Office“ (das Hollywood-Zensuramt) schrieb zu dem Streifen:
There is about the picture too, a curious flavor which is likely to give serious offense to religious people who hold in reverence religious practices dealing with the death of Christ. It is not unlikely that such people might look upon your picture as a travesty on religion.
Kino Lorber schreibt:
Exploitation films were often ripped from the most sensational headlines of the day, and few headlines were as scandalous as those reporting a murder within the community of a masochistic religious cult in northern New Mexico. Los Hermanos Penitentes celebrated Lent by enacting elaborate tableaus of flagellation, self-mutilation, and crucifixion. Envisioning the box-office potential of such a spectacle, cinematographer Roland Price (Marihuana: Weed With Roots in Hell) shot several reels of footage of the rituals, then teamed with producer Harry Revier (Child Bride) to fashion a murder mystery around the documentary material. For years, The Lash of the Penitentes flourished on the exploitation circuit, sometimes with new footage cut into the feature (and most notoriously: the trailer). Usually circulated in an abbreviated 35-minute version, this Kino Classics edition was restored from film elements preserved by the Library of Congress, and represents the uncensored 48-minute cut: The Penitente Murder Case.
Extras:
The Penitente Murder Case (the complete, uncensored, 48-minute cut)
The Lash of the Penitentes (the censored and condensed 35-minute version)
Audio commentary by series curator Bret Wood
Optional English SDH subtitles

Vielleicht kommt da parallel was.

Ja das find ich auch. Mondo Cannibale ebenso. Falls du das noch nicht gelesen hast.
